Happy 10th Birthday to my TWINS!!

10 years ago today our little family of just 2 doubled to a family of 4. This was a day I never thought I would see. After 4 years of trying, praying, hoping, doctor visits, lab tests and multiple miscarriages we were able to conceive not 1 but 2 little miracles.

Just when we thought all was well - I had quit throwing up and was starting to feel a bit better - my body decided to evict these tiny and delecate tennents. For those of you who don't know or forgot... a pregnancy typically lasts about 40 weeks. At 26 weeks things started happening. By the end of 27 weeks the journey was picking up speed at an alarming rate. At 28 weeks I went in for a check-up for what I thought were "braxton hicks" contractions (the ones for "practice" that don't hurt). I was ambulanced to a hospital with a NICU that could handle such early babies. They put me on some major meds to get things to stop. Magnesium Sulfate = best friend and worst enemy.

One week later . . .

"Dragon Girl" came first 2lbs 10oz 14 1/2" and 4 minutes later "Jabber Box" made his way into this world 2lbs 14oz 14 1/2".

The Journey begins . . .

Eventually we brought them home. Laid them on the sofa and said.... "Now What?"

In no time our hands were very FULL.

They were acting just like other toddlers. Fighting over who got to smack Cookie Monster on the TV. Well... it looked like that. Perhaps they thought they could touch him or something. Who knows what toddlers think?

They have always been each other's best friend.

It has not always been fun and games. We have had several "hiccups". From 2000 to 2007 we were "frequent fliers" at the local ped floor of the hospital.

But, don't let their rocky start and "hiccups" fool you. They like to have fun just like all the rest of the kids....

The neat thing is... no matter what has happened.. or will happen.. they are each other's BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE!!! I can't wait to see what they will do next!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my BIG 10 YEAR OLDS!!!!

SwagBucks

On the right you will see a NEW ad for SwagBucks. To earn FREE prizes including Gift Cards.

Use SwagBucks to search like you normally do in Google or Yahoo. You will occasionally earn a few SwagBucks. When you get a particular amount you can get things or you can get a Gift Card to Amazon (to buy WHATEVER YOU WANT that is sold there). You can also get your SwagBucks turned into CASH in your PAYPAL account and use that money to buy ANYTHING ANYWHERE (pay your utilities, mortgage, car payment, airfare, vacation etc..).

Once you get into the "groove" you will find other ways to earn a few SwagBucks here or there. I've also found a neat place on the site to print out coupons for products I purchase all the time at my local grocery store (cereal, baby shampoo, cat food etc...). You get SwagBucks for checking out the coupon section.

Click on the SwagBuck ad in the right column (or click HERE) and sign up.

The Woes of being FREELANCE

This is a GREAT example of what freelance work is like.

The only thing they left out of the video is when a "client" (aka moocher) asks for a "freebie" this time "But I promise that I'll send all my friends to you the next time they or I have a project like this". "I'll send a lot of business your way."

If it's business like what he's asking for, NO THANK YOU!!!!

My friend Alex found this video and it is totally AMAZING. If this can be put to good use for the world... imagine the difference it could make in so many people's lives.

More detailed version of this story from 60 minutes. It is in 3 parts. Not the best quality.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD:

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.

3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.

4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.

5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.

6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.

7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.

2) Wrinkles don't hurt.

3) Families are like fudge..mostly sweet, with a few nuts.

4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.

5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.

6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fibre, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.

2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.

3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.

4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.

5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.

6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.

7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.

8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.

9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.

10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.
